The bank is organized as three bands and nine levels: elementary (1-3), intermediate (4-6) and advanced (7-9). As in the real exam, levels 7, 8 and 9 are treated as a single band rather than three separate tests.
In HSK 3.0, the number of options varies by part. The elementary band mainly uses A-F matching tasks and three-option questions, while four-option cloze and reading-comprehension questions become more common from the intermediate band onward. This site uses 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-option formats according to the question style for each level.
Questions and options remain in Simplified Chinese, as on the exam. Explanations and interface text can be displayed in Japanese, English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese or Vietnamese.
For Levels 1-6, the mock exam follows the official reading-section question count and time limit. For Levels 7-9, it covers the 28 multiple-choice reading questions in 36 minutes. Results and explanations stay hidden until you finish, then you get accuracy by topic.
Questions are grouped into vocabulary, grammar, cloze, reading comprehension, sentence ordering and context matching. If reading feels difficult, the right study strategy depends on whether the issue is vocabulary, grammar or something else.
Each explanation covers why the answer is correct and why the tempting distractors are wrong. You can then revisit missed questions in Weak-area practice.
Use the level filter to choose the level you plan to take. Level 1 is the easiest and Level 9 is the highest.
Start with the topic filter set to "All" to identify the areas you need to improve.
Focus on low-accuracy topics and try them again. Reading the explanations for incorrect options will deepen your understanding.
Complete the mock exam with the same question count and time limit as the reading section to get used to allocating time per question.

The level structure and vocabulary figures follow the HSK 3.0 test syllabus; the exam structure follows the official sample papers for levels 1-6 and 7-9. Scoring and pass marks for HSK 3.0 levels 1-6 had not been published when this site was written, so they are not listed here. The move from the six-level to the nine-level system is also being rolled out in stages, and the timing differs by region. Always check the official site for the current specification and availability before you register.

It is the new grading scheme based on the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education, which reorganizes the old six levels into three bands and nine levels: elementary (1-3), intermediate (4-6) and advanced (7-9). The vocabulary requirements rise sharply, and the advanced band requires translation and speaking. This site follows the nine-level system.
No. Levels 7-9 are a single exam, and your score decides the level afterwards: 315-349 is level 7, 350-389 is level 8, and 390 or above is level 9. A score of 314 or below is reported as "below level 7". This site likewise treats 7-9 as one band.
The HSK 3.0 syllabus gives cumulative figures of 300 words for level 1, 500 for level 2, 1,000 for level 3, 2,000 for level 4, 3,600 for level 5, 5,400 for level 6 and 11,000 for levels 7-9. Every level demands more than it did under the six-level system, so the old level numbers do not map across.
Because the HSK 3.0 reading section uses a different number of options in each part. Levels 1-3 are mostly A-F matching tasks (six or five options) and three-option questions; from level 4 up, four-option cloze and comprehension questions take over. This site reproduces all four formats - 3, 4, 5 and 6 options - as they are.
No. Levels 1 and 2 of the old six-level system (HSK 2.0) had true/false judgment questions, but they appear in none of the level 1-6 reading sections in the official HSK 3.0 sample papers, so this site does not include them either.
No. These are original questions written for study purposes with reference to HSK 3.0 question formats and per-level vocabulary ranges. For real past papers, use the official collections.
No. This site covers only multiple-choice questions from the reading (阅读) section. Listening needs audio, and writing, translation and speaking are free-response or spoken, which a multiple-choice bank cannot cover. Level 1 has no writing section at all.
No. An HSK result is based on the combined listening, reading and writing score, so a site covering reading alone cannot decide it. The mock exam reports your number of correct answers and your accuracy by topic. Scoring and pass marks for HSK 3.0 levels 1-6 had not been published when this site was written, so they are not listed here.
The real reading section: 20 questions in 20 minutes for level 1, 25 in 25 for level 2, 30 in 30 for level 3, 32 in 30 for level 4, 35 in 35 for level 5 and 40 in 40 for level 6. For levels 7-9, only the 28 questions of part one of the 47-question, 60-minute reading section are multiple choice, so the mock exam is set to 28 questions in 36 minutes. Listening, writing and translation time is not included.
Levels 7-9 are already offered. Levels 1-6 are still being phased in, and availability varies by region. Check the official site for the latest local test schedule before you register.
