Questions and choices are in Korean so you can practice reading historical sources and terms as they appear.

Explanations in 6 languages

Explanations and the interface are available in Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Vietnamese.

Study by era

Questions are organized into 11 era categories from prehistory to the present.

Estimated grade

Mock exam results show which grade you would reach: Grades 1–3 for Advanced and Grades 4–6 for Basic.

  2. Mock exam: Advanced: 50 questions, 80 minutes. Basic: 50 questions, 70 minutes. Questions come from all eras of that level.

  4. Weakness review: Questions with a low accuracy rate are asked first.
  5. Favorites: Retry only the questions you have marked.

Does this site include actual exam questions?

No. They are original questions based on the exam scope. Past exam questions are published on the official website of the National Institute of Korean History.

Can I answer the questions in Japanese?

Questions and choices are in Korean, as in the real exam. Explanations can be read in 6 languages, including Japanese.

What is the difference between Advanced and Basic?

Advanced uses five choices and certifies Grades 1–3; Basic uses four choices and certifies Grades 4–6. Both have 50 questions and 100 points.

What is the passing score?

For Advanced, 60+ is Grade 3, 70+ is Grade 2, and 80+ is Grade 1. For Basic, the same scores give Grades 6, 5, and 4.

What does the "cross-period and thematic history" category mean?

Questions that span multiple eras, such as regional history, cultural heritage, or how institutions changed over time.
